Dear All
I hope that your winter celebrations were fun and that the New Year will bring answers to prayers and good things.
After a time of drawing in energies and shortness of daylight, we’re looking forward to the gradual return of light to this part of our planet!
The next meeting of the East London GreenSpirit Group is at 7.30pm on February Monday 2nd 2009 at 137 Ham Park Road London E7 9LE
After an experiential remembering of the
Creation of the
Earth and a candle-lit ritual to express our (precarious) relationship as humans with the planet, we will share a (vegan) Candlemass supper remembering also that this is the Celtic festival of Imbolc.
Please bring poems, stories, songs etc to share on the theme of Creation or to express how you feel about the Planet or our present relationship with it.
It will help if you let Ian know by Jan 29th if you are coming. (020 8552 2096 info(at)greenspirit.org.uk)

Our Spring Equinox meeting will be on Friday March 20th 2009 at 33 Park Road at 7.30 pm.
Spring Equinox celebrates the renewed life of the Earth that comes with the Spring. It is a solar festival, celebrated when the length of the day and the night are equal (this happens twice a year, at spring and autumn Equinox).
To celebrate the spring we will start with
Ikebana, the Japanese art of arranging flowers and foliage meditatively. Bring budding twigs, flowers, willow catkins, sprouting bulbs, and bring your favourite poems by
Nature poets like John Clare, Blake, Wordsworth and Thomas Traherne.

Dawn Walk at Easter, we will rise early to greet the dawn in Wanstead Park April 12th (leave West Ham park 5.15am, or meet at Wanstead Park 5.30, sunrise is 6.09am) Afterwards we are invited to enjoy a cooked breakfast at Ian’s.
Walking Retreat in Wye valley April 14th-17th Join other GreenSpirits walking the earth with reverence this spring when our walks will take us along ancient ridge ways with long views to the Wye valley and the Cotswolds, through beautiful beech woods overlooking the river and along the tracks where drovers accompanied their livestock to markets in days gone by. We will stay in St Briavels youth hostel, a moated Norman castle, originally built as a hunting lodge for King John in 1205 on the site of an earlier stronghold. This holiday is inexpensive, £120 for 3 days with all meals; please note there are no single rooms.

In August some of us will go to the GreenSpirit Wild Week in Wales which takes place at Cae Mabon in Snowdonia. it is a week of living close to each other and capturing the meaning of GreenSpirit: living in a loving consciousness of the interconnected world.
Cae Mabon is set in natural woodland by a rushing river, near a deep lake, at the foot of high mountains and almost within sight of the sea. A family of beautiful, natural, earthy structures provide appealing spaces to meet, retreat, work and play for more details about East London GreenSpirit contact Hilary Norton: email: hapn(at)greenspirit.org.uk 'phone: 020 8470 3365
